NEWBURGH, Ind. -- The Vanderburgh County Mobile Recovery Center located at the Eastbrook Trailer Park in Evansville will close Saturday, December 3, at 6 p.m. The Disaster Recovery Center in the Bell Oaks Centre in Newburgh will remain open, officials of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Indiana Department of Homeland Security announced today.
“At this stage of the recovery process, we are finding that the immediate needs of most victims of the November 6 tornado have been met and we are beginning to transition our assistance to meet the long-term needs of the communities and the victims,” said Brad Gair, Federal Coordinating Officer (FCO) for this disaster recovery effort.
The Warrick County Disaster Recovery Center located in the Bell Oaks Centre, 8333 Bell Oaks Dr., Newburgh, will continue to operate 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday until further notice.
Those affected by the November 6 tornado and severe storms, who still have not registered and/or have questions about assistance or low-interest disaster loans can call the toll-free application line at 1-800-621-FEMA (TTY 1-800-462-7585 for the speech – or hearing-impaired) or visit the FEMA web site at www.fema.gov. Phones and computers are available at the Warrick county Disaster Recovery Center.
FEMA prepares the nation for all hazards and manages federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates mitigation activities, trains first responders, works with state and local emergency managers, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program.
