Only Four Days Left to Register for Federal Disaster Assistance

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- There are now only 4 more days to register for federal disaster assistance by the December 17, 1999, deadline. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is encouraging all those affected by Hurricane Floyd to call the toll-free teleregistration number today.

Anyone who has not yet begun the assistance process should call 1-800-462-9029 by 6:00pm on Friday, December 17, 1999. People who have already registered and are interested in the status of their filed applications may call the Disaster Helpline at 1-800-525-0321. Those with speech or hearing impairments may call 1-800-462-7585 (TTY). The hours for all phone banks are 8:00am to 6:00pm, Monday through Saturday.

As of close of business on December 13, 1999, 20,337 New Jersey residents have registered and assistance provided on the following county-specific basis:
