ATLANTA, Ga. -- Five days after a series of strong storms swept through Tennessee, federal, state and local response and recovery officials continue efforts to assist residents and communities. Following is a summary of information disaster survivors need to know to apply for state and federal assistance following the severe storms, tornadoes and flooding that hit the state February 5 and 6.
ASSISTANCE BEGINS TO FLOW

Through Saturday, Feb. 9, 601 storm survivors have applied for federal and state disaster assistance by calling the FEMA tele-registration number.

119 storm survivors have visited one of the four Mobile Disaster Recovery Centers (MDRCs).

FEMA has already issued checks totaling $275,576 to disaster survivors who have registered with the agency.
