To provide the student with the ability to speak and understand basic present day Italian.

Learning Outcome
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to understand spoken Italian and express basic concepts in the present tense within limited everyday cultural contexts.

Instruction
Major topics covered in the course are greetings, numbers, days of the week, geographical and descriptive vocabulary; and grammatical content which covers personal pronouns, present tense, singular and plural, questions, agreement of adjectives.

Methods of instruction include lecture, discussion, classroom exercises, presentations, tests, and final examination.
