Accustom your ear to the sounds and rhythms of the language and acquire the ability to form natural links between French words. Objective
To provide the student with the ability to speak and understand increasingly complex French.
Learning Outcome
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to understand spoken French involving increasingly complex patterns and vocabulary; express increasingly elaborate concepts in French; and relate to broader aspects of contemporary French and Francophone culture.
Instruction
Expansion of vocabulary and development of speaking and listening skills through dialogues and other oral exercises include the following topics:
- foods,
- restaurants,
- stores,
- weekend activities,
- meals,
- hotels,
- weather,
- months,
- days,
- holidays,
- illness.
Topics of grammar include
- passé compose,
- imparfait,
- double pronouns,
- prepositions,
- irregular verbs,
- future, subjunctive, imperative.
Methods of instruction include lecture, discussion, classroom exercises, presentations, tests, and final examination.
