Overview:
Receive a strong introduction to the federal budgeting process. Participants walk away with an understanding of what a budget is, how a budget is prepared, the composition of the federal budget and the role of federal financial professionals. Gain an understanding of how key legislation is changing, how the federal budget is developed and executed, and the resulting impact on the nation's financial and program resources.

Cover concepts and terms, valuable techniques for estimating costs, key characteristics of program budgets, types of appropriations and funding issues. Learn techniques for estimating staff salaries, travel and other costs with confidence and provide valuable assistance in constructing and executing operating budgets. Leave with a clear understanding of the definition and purpose of your agency's operating budget.

This course is also part of the Certificate of Accomplishment in Program and Management Analysis.
