Objective: To
provide the student with more complex grammatical structures and vocabulary at
a high-intermediate level.
Learning Outcome: Upon successful completion of this course
students will be able to converse more fluently using more complex grammatical
structures and vocabulary.
Instruction:
Major topics included in the course will include
the noun ﻜِﻼ;
expressing exception with ٳﻻَ and ِﻏبِر;
expressing obligation with أب... عاى;
expressing possibility with ۬بُِمڪِنُ;
the particle لمَِْ;
the structure بِعُﺪْ ِلم;
The relative noun ما ;
the particle أنْ
after adverbs of time;
the noun بِضْعُ
;
the use of the particle ﻒَ;
the functions of the particle قَﺪْ;
(substitution, the permutative of) البَﺪَل;
writing the hamza; terms of address;
comparative and superlative degrees revisited;
expressing reason with ڪَيand
ل;
and verbal nouns (المَصﺪَر) revisited.
Vocabulary topics covered will include geographical directions and features; describing countries, populations and
productions; television and radio; professions; activities in the past, present and future; travel-related activities; family members and relations; describing professions; relational concepts;
Methods of instruction include lectures, discussions, classroom exercises, homework assignments, role-plays, video and
audio material, mid-term examination and final examination.
