ABOUT EVENING & WEEKEND PROGRAMS We are the Community College of the Graduate School, USDA and have performed this function for Washington, DC since the School’s inception in 1921. The first classes were held after working hours on October 17, with 176 students enrolled in science, economics, mathematics, and statistics courses. The purpose of the program then is the same today – to provide high-quality, convenient, and low-cost instruction to anyone with a desire to improve their knowledge or skills to remain current in their respective field or to enter a new one. Evening & Weekend Programs offers core education courses to anyone at a reasonable cost through a stellar faculty and classroom experience. We have taken some of those courses and combined them into Certificates of Accomplishment. Soon a number of these certificates will become Associate Degree Programs. We award college credits for courses to help students attain new personal goals, move forward in a career, or investigate an interest in a non-threatening environment. Our open door policy allows anyone to enroll and attend a class with only a eagerness to learn, participate, and apply what they have learned in a way that is beneficial to them. Our customers are students with a vision and through the Evening & Weekend Programs, they find their way along that journey. For many of our students, the Evening & Weekend Program is their only collegiate experience. For others, their employment search has led them to us as they seek a quality, reasonably priced place to improve their talent and skills so they can compete in the new global society. Many have found that their Bachelors’ degree is not enough and they need to obtain an advanced degree, so they come to us to meet the prerequisite requirements for admittance. And for others, they need to speak more than one language to be marketable in their careers. Evening & Weekend Programs provides a conducive environment for networking, knowledge, skill, and confidence building that is needed to succeed in today's fast paced world. The Evening & Weekend Programs is the Graduate School's Community College of Continuing Education. Former and current students tell us that this is where they can come to realize a lifelong dream; although, some thought that they would never pursue a two year academic credit program. In the Evening & Weekend Programs, you are able to attend collegiate level courses with peers like yourself, who are either pursuing or starting a career or personal goal. The journey to that goal is one that will allow you to share your passion and talent with others. It is because of the opportunity that the Graduate School provides through the Evening & Weekend Program that you become a well-rounded person who will make a difference. |
