Dearest --

An eventful day--ship's company personnel inspection again-for the second Saturday in a row. Last Saturday's inspection had, apparently, dissatisfied the captains (I was on my way home them) and, consequently, they were on the warpath--so went the scuttle-butt. And rumors were rife that, in addition a personal inspection of the personnel, our bunks & insides of our lockers were also to be scrutinized. The latter rumor stirred everyone up; for the contents & arrangement of our lockers are far from anything according to the rules. Almost everyone was busy {Sat.} Fri eve and Sat morn, fussing with sea bags and squaring
