Dearest Lil --

I just missed going to sea! I found out additional information today about that. Last night a friend told me my name was on a list posted in another barracks. I investigated & found it to be so, instructing me to report for an examination-physical--to O.G.U. office. I went up there & was told my name was on the list for draft to go to L.I. but that it had been scratched off. So I remarked, "maybe I would have been better off there." To which a chap present said that ^it was for sea duty!

My old company has been {sf} shipped off the [Drill] Hall floor to B unit. I met many of them tonight & it was like old Home Week reunion. A number ^of them^ have already been drafted out--one fellow, a storekeeper, to Phila. for sea duty in the near future. And many others are scheduled for various places in the next few days.
