Evening Update: Significant progress was made today on the Clover Fire’s East Zone. Line was constructed both on the north and the south perimeters. Crews were aided in areas of especially steep terrain by helicopters as they battled the fire. Tomorrow crews will continue to construct line on both the north and the south ends of the fire. As they move west they will tie in with West Zone crews battling this fire on that front. They will also begin to mop-up and secure portions of the fire as needed. The east side of the fire is in monitoring status, firefighters will be alert for any hotspots that may occur.
Announcements: There will be a public meeting tomorrow evening, Friday, at 6:00 PM at the Lone Pine High School Auditorium.
Trail Information: In the interest of public and firefighter safety and to maximize fire suppression efforts travelers intending to use the Pacific Crest Trail between Olancha Pass and Kennedy Meadows, Wildrose Trail, Haiwee Pass Trail, Long Canyon, Lost Meadow Trail, Honeybee Trail and the Beck Meadow Trail may encounter closures or detours. Alternate route for PCT thru-hikers follows the road from Kennedy Meadows to Jackass Trailhead, then the Jackass Trail through Broder and Monache Meadows and Olancha Pass trail to the PCT. This route will be marked as "PCT Detour"
Location: Inyo National Forest, north of Kennedy Meadows, west of the Aqueduct road, east of the South Sierra Wilderness and south of Haiwee Pass Trail.
