Description: The objective of this RFA is to support the training of undergraduate and graduate students in research. The Program will substantially benefit academic training of research scientists and enable the EPA Office of Research and Development to meet its desire for increased emphasis on the training of future environmental scientists who can work in a variety of organizations. ORD intends to increase both the effectiveness and number of future environmental scientists by providing students with experience that can be applied in scientific careers in both the public and private sectors through close collaboration with senior NRMRL scientists while working in a fully operational research laboratory. Research training will be conducted at NRMRL in Cincinnati, Ohio, and academic training will be conducted at the home institutions of the students. Some examples of the desirable student participant include those majoring in, but, not limited to, chemistry, engineering, biology, computer science, ecology, and urban planning.
