Objective:
JER and NPS cooperative effort to develop monitoring protocols for desert ecosystems for NPS units within the Chihuahuan Desert Inventory and Monitoring Network.

Approach:
1) Participation in Conceptual Ecological Monitoring Workshops, preparation of literature review and conceptual models. 2) Initiating the development of a protocol report (includes sampling design and integrated set of monitoring methods. 3) Pilot implementation of proposed methods. 4) Refinement of sampling design and methods, and documentation of monitoring protocols.
