Mission Statement

Subtropical Agricultural Research StationThe Mission of the STARS is 1) to conduct multidisciplinary research to elucidate mechanisms and interactions for responses of different breed types of cattle to nutritional and environmental stressors; 2) to determine the biological and physical phenomena that affect forage production and utilization by livestock; 3) to assess the impact of grazing livestock on the environment; and to 4) identify and quantify a full spectrum of biological traits of economic importance in life-cycle beef production systems. STARS serves as the National Center of the Agency for the characterization, evaluation and preservation of tropically adapted beef cattle germplasm.
