Gov. Mike Easley today announced that North Carolina, for the fourth year in a row and seven of the last eight years, is the state with the “Top Business Climate” according to Site Selection magazine. Site Selection is one of the nation’s premier magazines for economic development providing expansion planning information to more than 44,000 corporate executives.

GOV. EASLEY ANNOUNCES HALLOWEEN 'BOOZE IT & LOSE IT' YIELDS 743 DWI ARRESTS DURING STATEWIDE CAMPAIGN 11/4/2008
Gov. Mike Easley announced today that state and local law enforcement officers helped make the state's roads safer this Halloween by removing 743 impaired drivers from highways during a "Booze It & Lose It" campaign that ran Oct. 30 through Nov. 2. A total of 18,913 traffic and criminal citations were issued statewide. full story...

GOV. EASLEY THANKS LOCAL BOARDS FOR EXTENDING EARLY VOTING HOURS 10/31/2008
Gov. Mike Easley today thanked the 50 North Carolina county elections boards that have extended their early-voting hours to as late as 5 p.m. Saturday. He urged the remaining 50 to do the same to assure that all the state's citizens have the opportunity to vote. On Thursday the State Board of Elections unanimously voted to allow local boards, if they wanted, to extend early voting hours an additional four hours. full story...
