Overview

The New Crops and Processing Technology Research Unit (NCP) creates viable new agricultural commodities by identifying potential alternative crops and generating market demand by developing new industrial products using those crops.

Identifying and introducing potential alternative crops is accomplished through seed analyses and field trials in cooperation with crop breeders and agronomists.

New products are generated from established and alternative crops by developing environmentally friendly processes using water, carbon dioxide, ethanol, ionic solvents and similar media with biocatalysts.
