"Helping Patients with Alcohol
Problems: A Health Practitioner's Guide"
Format: Booklet
Institute: National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and
Alcoholism (NIAAA)
NIAAA has updated and redesigned one of its most requested
publications for health practitioners. Helping Patients
with Alcohol Problems: A Health Practitioner's Guide
incorporates an eye-catching, easy-to-scan graphic format
with updated information about effective, brief interventions
that primary care physicians and other health practitioners
can use to help their patients.
This 22-page publication updates the 1995 Physicians'
Guide to Helping Patients with Alcohol Problems. An
accompanying pocket guide provides screening and intervention
tools and a standard drink chart. The content and design
was evaluated and refined through in-depth interviews with
nine diverse primary care practitioners from a variety of
practice settings.
