Us TOO International: Prostate Cancer Education & Support

Us TOO International

The mission of Us TOO International is to communicate timely, personalized, and reliable information, enabling informed choices regarding detection and treatment of prostate cancer. Its goals include education, advocacy, patient and family support, and public awareness of prostate cancer and prostate disease.

Founded in 1990 by prostate cancer survivors, Us TOO International is the world's largest independent, charitable network of education and support groups for men with prostate cancer and their families. Us TOO International seeks to provide the highest level of leadership and compassion and to promote enhanced understanding of prostate cancer while improving the quality of life for survivors and their families through proactive programs and positions. Among its activities, Us TOO International has a program for spouses and partners of men with prostate cancer; produces publications providing knowledge and support to generate open, honest, and unbiased discussion of treatment options and alternatives; and sponsors educational symposia and workshops.

Partnership Activities

CDC has funded Us TOO International for a five-year period to support Us TOO International's "Minority and Underserved Populations Program," a program to minimize mortality rates among African-American men, Spanish-speaking men, and men living in underserved regions of the United States such as Appalachia. As part of this program, Us TOO International will provide educational programs and develop culturally sensitive Spanish-language literature to increase awareness of prostate cancer and screening. Us TOO International will also provide advocacy, outreach, and support, and monitor improvement in survival that can be attributed to its "Minority and Underserved Populations Program."
