ABD required, Ph.D. preferred Application deadline: March 19, 2001 Position requires teaching an introductory required course on racism using an oppression framework which analyzes institutional and personal racism and race relations in the United States. 1. Teach courses in Human Relations & Multicultural Education based on a global critical framework of structural oppression, social and environmental justice and the interrelationship of race, gender, class, sexual orientation, disability, xenophobia, imperialism, environmental issues, etc. Specifically, candidates should be prepared to teach Human Relations and Race, Non-Oppressive Relationships and elective courses on one or more of the previously named topics. 2. Recruit and advise undergraduate & graduate Human Relations & Multicultural Education students. 3. Participate in program development and assessment. 4. An interest in the use of technology is desirable. 5. Serve on college or university committees seeking to promote educational equity and social justice. 6. Scholarly achievement or research, continued preparation and study, and service to the university and community. 1. ABD required, Ph.D. preferred in any field related to the job description. 2. Demonstrated knowledge of: racism and other forms of oppression and the interrelationships between them; theories related to social and environmental justice; non-dominant, non-western "ways of knowing"; connections between global and personal issues. 3. Demonstrated experience in social action to effectively challenge oppression. 4. Demonstrated record of teaching competence. 5. Additional expertise preferred on one or more of the following: disability rights, oppression based on class and gender, GLBT issues, ageism or environmental justice.
