MOBILE, Ala.-- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Alabama Emergency Management Agency (AEMA) announced today the closing of the Tillmans Corner Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Mobile County on Thursday, Mar. 3, 2005 at 6:00 p.m.

This is the last DRC currently open to serve Alabamians impacted by Hurricane Ivan. To date, over 52,000 thousand individuals have visited one or more of the 21 DRCs including one mobile unit that was temporarily open during Hurricane Ivan recovery efforts. The U.S. Small Business Administration workshop at Gulf Shores will also close on this date.
Applicants who have already applied for FEMA assistance and have questions may contact FEMA’s helpline at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) through its automated system. Much of the information available at a DRC is also provided through this toll-free service.
March 3 is also the last day to register for FEMA disaster assistance by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362).
FEMA prepares the nation for all hazards and effectively manages federal response and recovery efforts following any national incident. FEMA also initiates mitigation activities, trains first responders, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program and the U.S. Fire Administration. FEMA became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on March 1, 2003.
