Objective:
Evaluate melon germplasm for resistance to four new virulent races of powdery mildew incited by Podosphaera xanthii.

Approach:
Inoculate individual leaves of ca. 430 melon accessions with a single spore isolate of each of the four new races of powdery mildew in greenhouse tests; confirm in field tests. Documents SCA with UC Riverside.
