Manassas National Battlefield Park Teacher's Corner

Welcome Educators!

We will start taking field study reservations for the 2005/06 school year on August 1, 2005

Manassas National Battlefield Park may be viewed as a 5,000 acre classroom, enabling students to learn about the American Civil War and the two major battles which took place here along with the park's natural resources.

Educational groups who wish to visit the park should first review the following pages of information about programs and opportunities at Manassas National Battlefield Park.  All programs are aligned with the Virginia Standards of Learning and the National Standards for United States History.

Education Programs offered by Manassas National Battlefield Park include both site-based ranger-conducted, programs and site-based self-guided tours.  Lesson plans and teaching aids are also available to download from this website.  Teachers have the option of choosing or adapting a program to fit their needs.  The Education Specialist is also willing to work on special projects with school groups.

Reservations for educational programs are made in consultation with the park's interpretive staff.  Please call 703.361.2636 or e-mail the park Education Specialist for information.

Requests for entrance fee waivers, for groups with students age 17 or older, must be submitted in writing on official letterhead in advance of the visit.

Special Note: Formal programs will only be conducted between September 26, 2005 and June 9, 2006.  No formal  education programs are conducted on weekends or in the summer.
