Objective:
To develop comprehensive data sheets for 100 species of plant pathogenic fungi invasive in parts of the world.

Approach:
The most threatening invasive 100 fungal species will be determined based on the fungus-host data at the Systematic Mycology & Microbiology Laboratory. It is estimated that there will be 40 species of rust fungi, 40 species of ascomycetes and asexually reproducing fungi, and 20 species of other kinds of fungi including Basidiomycetes and Oomycetes, although these numbers may vary considerably. For each fungal species, all available data will be compiled including accurate nomenclature with synonyms of both states, if they exist; descriptions and illustrations of each species; common names of the disease; geographic distribution, host range, biology and ecology including trade risks and pathways for movement; environmental, social and economic impacts; and control methods. These data sheets will be based on the available literature and communication with scientists working with these fungi. If living germplasm and molecular resources is available, a DNA barcode will be developed for each of the fungal pathogens to allow accurate and rapid diagnosis.
