A person becomes overweight or obese when they eat more calories than they burn by being active.
 
If you are eating foods high in calories, sugar, and fat and not getting enough physical activity, you are at risk for becoming overweight or obese.
 
If you are overweight or obese, you may be at higher risk for type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and disability.
