Biographical Information on Microfilm
The British Biographical Archive, (microfiche
86/901), is a single-alphabet cumulation of 324 of the most important
English language biographical reference works published between 1601
and 1929. Included are some 240,000 persons of local, regional, national,
and international importance from England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland.
The British Biographical Archive. Series 2, (microfiche 97/1),
includes approximately 170,000 additional entries from 268 reference
works published between 1601-1978.
British and Irish Biographies, 1840-1940, (microfiche 88/161),
lists information from 273 biographical dictionaries published between
1840 and 1940. Included are general biographical collections, as
well as specialist, professional, and regional biographical dictionaries.
Part 1 indexes biographical information for more than 180,000 prominent
and not-so-prominent British and Irish persons. Part 2 reproduces
individual biographical dictionaries in their entirety. Additional
information may be available in the Microform Reading Room guide
