Description: | To save money, the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority has been shifting more construction projects to daylight hours, when it says fewer workers can claim overtime, but more people are on the road. In June 2008 there were four daytime construction jobs, all involving closures on key routes, leading to traffic delays and frustrated drivers. The Turnpike Authority is trying to limit daytime lane closures to the hours between the morning and afternoon rush hours whenever possible. They are also trying to consolidate construction projects so that lane closures do not last as long. |
