Abstract: OCATS is used to monitor the progress of deficient,
late filer, and non-filer cases. The system tracks all cases opened within the
Office of the Chief Accountant, from the opening of the case through final
closure. The major fields include plan identification, dates of correspondence,
and penalty amounts.
Purpose: The Office of the Chief
Accountant is responsible for enforcing 502(c)2 of ERISA through the targeting
of deficient, late filed, and non-filed Form 5500s. OCATS was developed to
ensure all cases are handled in a timely manner within the requirements of
ERISA.
Agency Program: The Office of the Chief Accountant is
tasked with enforcing 502(c)2 of ERISA. OCATS serves as the base for managing
the case load within the Office of the Chief Accountant.
