Abstract: Elaws Advisors are web-based, interactive systems that provide easy-to-understand information to employers and employees about the laws and regulations administered by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL). The elaws Advisors imitate the interaction a worker or small business person might have with a DOL employee in obtaining information about a particular law and/or regulation. Based on responses to questions posed by the Advisor, the user is provided with customized information about how the law applies in the user's workplace-as though he/she were talking with a DOL expert.

Purpose: Elaws Advisors were developed to increase compliance with the employment laws administered by DOL. They are an innovative set of tools, designed to save companies time and money in complying with labor laws, leverage DOL's compliance resources, and provide understandable, accurate information relating to employers' and workers' workplace rights and responsibilities.

Agency Program: Elaws Advisors were designed as part of the National Partnership for Reinventing Government's Plain Language initiative, written in a simple and direct format intended to increase awareness for employers and employees on DOL compliance issues, workplace laws, rights and responsibilities.
