ATV Policy for Cedar City Ranger District Campgrounds
ATV Policy for all
Cedar City Ranger District
Campgrounds
On August 8, 2005 a meeting was held at the Duck Creek Campground to discuss ATV concerns in District campgrounds and come up with an official policy for each individual campground. In attendance were Steve Hunn and three additional representatives from Aud & Di Concessionaire Services, Bryan Carter, Travis Book, Keith Stanworth and Kent Traveller from the Forest Service. The following policies were agreed upon for each of the District campgrounds.
Cedar Canyon: This campground will continue to be closed to operating or unloading of ATV’s. ATV’s may be hauled into and out of the campground on a trailer but not unloaded or ridden within the campground.
Navajo, Spruce, Te-ah: These campgrounds will continue to be closed to operating or unloading of ATV’s. The entire Navajo Lake basin is closed to any ATV use. ATV’s may be hauled into and out of the campgrounds on a trailer but not unloaded or ridden anywhere within the Navajo Lake basin.
Duck Creek: Duck Creek Campground has a new ATV parking area on the northeast corner of Loop “D”. This parking area is surfaced (road base) and fenced and is for ATV’s only. No trailers or vehicles with wheelbases greater than 50 inches will be allowed in the parking area. ATV’s will be allowed to park in the designated parking area and access the trail system from there. Ingress and egress to and from individual campsites will not be allowed. Unloading of ATV’s anywhere in the campground outside of the parking area will not be allowed. All vehicles with a wheelbase greater than 50 inches must be trailered out of the campground. ATV’s may be chained to the parking lot fence if individuals desire to do so.
Yankee Meadows: ATV’s will be allowed to continue parking adjacent to the camp host site and ingress/egress to that point. ATV’s will not be allowed beyond that point into the campground (driven or pushed) unless on a trailer. ATV’s may be trailered in and out of the campground. A parking area for ATV’s will be developed in the future, similar to the one at Duck Creek, adjacent to the camp host site.
Deer Haven: This campground will continue to be closed to ATV’s. ATV’s may be trailered into and out of the campground but not unloaded or ridden within.
White Bridge: ATV’s will be allowed access to a designated parking area adjacent to and via Forest Road 082. ATV’s must be unloaded and left in the designated area and will not be allowed to be ridden anywhere in the campground. ATV’s may be trailered into and out of the campground.
Panguitch Lake South: This campground will be entirely closed to ATV’s. No ATV’s will be allowed to operate, unload or trailer into the campground.
Panguitch Lake North: ATV’s will not be allowed to operate inside the campground. ATV’s may be unloaded from toy haulers for camping purposes only but may not be operated anywhere in the campground. ATV’s may be trailered into and out of the campground.
