Lake Mead National Recreation Area
For Teachers

Lake Mead National Recreation Area (NRA) invites you and your students to attend ranger-led education programs. Our programs integrate interpretive themes at Lake Mead NRA (natural, cultural, recreational, protection, and safety) with curriculum requirements of the surrounding school districts, with special emphasis on the Mojave Desert. Programs given in the park and In-class programs vary length. Reservations are required.

In the Mead District, our primary audience is the Clark County School District serving the Las Vegas Valley and surrounding communities. In the Mohave District, our primary audiences include school districts within Mohave County, Arizona and Needles, California.

We seek to take concepts in science and social studies and provide students with an experience that will provide better understanding through exploration and discovery. Inquiry teaching methods are a core teaching style for our program.

The primary purpose of our education programs is two-fold: to connect students with the environment in which they like and to connect students with the relevance of the National Park Service and Lake Mead National Recreation Area.
