The Aerospace Education Services Project connects NASA to K-12 education throughout the United States. Penn State's Center for Science and the Schools became NASA's higher education partner for the project on Sept. 1, 2007.

To request a program by an Education Specialist, please complete this online form. Please note that if you are a teacher, you will need to obtain approval from an appropriate school administrator before you submit the form.

If you need to check on the status of a request or make a change, please contact the Project Assistant in your region. Alternatively, you may call the Penn State Center for Science and the Schools (814-863-5237) from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Eastern Time.

In 2008, the Aerospace Education Services Project will introduce three new initiatives:

  • Robots on the Road. An engaging one-day road show to introduce middle school students to robotics, using the theme of lunar exploration.
  • The NASA Education Sandbox. An annual meeting of scientists, engineers, and educators to assemble and open-source toolkit of resources for use in teacher professional development. Information about the 2008 Sandbox at Penn State.
  • spacePD. A competitive grants program to fund the development and delivery of credit-bearing courses to K-12 teachers.

Job opportunities: We currently have openings for Education Specialists at four NASA centers: Dryden Flight Research Center (California), Jet Propulsion Laboratory(California), Kennedy Space Center (Florida), and Langley Research Center (Virginia). If you are an experienced teacher with interest in professional development related to NASA's mission, please consider our current opportunities.
