The NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has announced the Deer Management Permits (DMP) that will be available on November 3, 2008.

    1C       8A

DMPs are also available in the following "Archery Only" Wildlife Management Units:

    3S

Hunters may apply for and receive up to two (2) additional DMPs in these Wildlife Management Units.  Applicants with licenses that are exempt from paying a DMP application fee or hunters who have previously applied for DMPs this license year will not be charged any additional fees during this first-come/first-served application period.

Applicants who purchase a Big Game/Small License, Non-Resident Big Game, Non-Resident Bow or Muzzleloader License and are applying for a Deer Management Permit for the first time this license season, will be charged a $10 application fee.

Wildlife Management Units will be opened each day for first-some/first-served issuance until the desired number of DMPs have been issued. When a Unit is opened it will remain open at least until the close of that business day.

You do not have to be first in line to receive a first-come/first-served permit. At the end of the business day, any units that have reached the desired number of permits will be closed.

The above list will be updated when we are notified by the DEC that an area is closed

The Town Clerk's Office is open daily Monday thru Friday, from 8:00 AM 'til 5:00 PM, with extended hours on Wednesday evening until 7:00 PM.    Click here for more information on Hunting Licenses.

  • Blue sphere seperator  West Seneca Floodplain Maps
The Town of West Seneca has been informed by NYSDEC that the revised floodplain maps will not be available until sometime in 2009 at the earliest. The reason for the delay is because FEMA has agreed to utilize (and pay for) a better system of collecting topographic information, called Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR). The new system will provide a greater degree of accuracy in revising the floodplain maps. The Town will post any updates on this mapping as they become available.

Blue sphere image paragraph seperator  Amendment to Recycling and Waste Disposal Law
The West Seneca Town Board recently adopted Local Law Number 5-2007 to amend the Recycling and Waste Disposal Law. This law was enacted to preserve the health, safety, and welfare of our residents by reducing the number of rodents in our community. Residents will be required to place their garbage in vinyl or aluminum containers with handles and tight lids. It is recommended that the containers have detachable covers to make the handling of the containers easier for our sanitation workers. Please continue to place your household garbage in plastic bags and then place the bags into vinyl or aluminum containers.

Patrick Finnegan, Superintendent of Highways, Sanitation and Buildings & Grounds will have additional information forthcoming. If you have any immediate questions, call the Sanitation Department at 674-4850.

Blue sphere image paragraph seperator  Passports
The Town Clerk's office has been designated as a passport acceptance site. Passport applications are processed daily from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM and on certain Wednesday evening until 6:30 PM.

The Department of State has announced an importance change in response to the needs of US citizens for flexibility regarding travel documents in complying with the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative. As of February 1st, citizens now have an opportunity to choose between the passport book and a passport card.

U.S. citizens may now begin applying in advance for the new, limited-use, wallet-size passport card. Cards are expected to be available and mailed to applicants in spring 2008. When available it will only be valid for land and sea travel between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean region, and Bermuda.

This is important to keep in mind, because the passport card cannot be used for air travel or for countries other than listed above.

The fee for a passport card for an adult is $45.00. Children (age 15 and under) pay $35.00.

Whether applying for a passport book or a passport card, you need to appear in person with a certified copy of your birth certificate (filed within one year after birth), and a valid form of photo identification such as a driver’s license.

In the Town Clerk’s office, steps have also been taken to assist customers with applications. The Town Clerk now offers a one-stop process by providing photographs as well as processing your passport application. Photographs are reasonably priced at $8.00.

The Department of State has placed a $3.00 increase in the fee for a passport book, now $100.00 for adults and $85.00 for children under 16.

Please Note:  For children under the age of 16, both parents or the child’s legal guardian(2) must appear in person with all the necessary documentation.

Passport applications are currently at the normal processing time of four to six weeks for routine service and three weeks for expedited service. There is an additional $60.00 fee for expedited service.

Fees for Passport Books are as follows:
  • Adults  (16 years of age or older)  Two (2) seperate checks are required
$ 75.00 check made payable to Department of State
$ 25.00 check made payable to West Seneca Town Clerk
  • Children  (15 years of age or younger)  Two (2) seperate checks are required
$ 60.00 check made payable to Department of State
$ 25.00 check made payable to West Seneca Town Clerk
It is suggested that interested parties contact the Town Clerk's Office (558-3215 or 558-3216) prior to appearing to insure that an authorized acceptance agent is available to process the application(s). All minors must appear in person when applying for U.S. passports.
