Research Project: COLLECTION, CONSERVATION AND USE OF PLANT GENETIC RESOURCES IN THE U.S. AND TUNISIA

Objective:
This project is to support collaboration in the collection, evaluation and preservation of plant genetic resources between the national plant genetic resources programs of the U.S. and Tunisia.

Approach:
1. Scientists from the U.S. and Tunisia will work together to plan and execute a plant exploration in Tunisia for wild and cultivated Allium (Onions and Garlic) and Daucus sp. 2. Scientists at the Range Ecology Laboratory, Institut des Regions Arides, Medenine, Tunisia will identify desired laboratory equipment and supplies, along with prices and suppliers, needed to support the seed processing and plant exploration activities of Institute and the U.S./Tunisia collaboration. 3. The USDA, ADODR (Authorized Department Official Designated Representative) will endorse appropriate equipment and supplies to be purchased by the Tunisian PI needed to support the seed storage program at the collaborating institution.
