New Electives Developed for Masters degree program

In response to student feedback and ongoing requests for additional Biosecurity and Disaster Preparedness learning opportunities, the Institute for Biosecurity is in the midst of developing additional electives for the degree and certificate program.(read the full story)

Online Graduate Forum Being Developed The Institute for Biosecurity graduated its first cohort of masters degree and certificate students in the spring and summer semesters of 2007. In an effort to maintain professional and personal ties to the program alumni, an Institute for Biosecurity Alumni bulletin board is being created. (read the full story)

Consensus Document Sent Nationwide The Institute for Biosecurity, in conjunction with Emergent BioSolutions of Rockville, MD, recently sent out a consensus document outlining its support for an action plan to offer vaccine protection to the civilian emergency responder and critical infrastructure workforce, similar to that afforded their federal counterparts.(read the full story)

New On-Site Courses Planned for Summer 2008 - Make Plans to Attend in St. Louis
The Institute for Biosecurity, having completed its first-ever one-week intensive on-site classes this summer, is busy preparing its on-site class offerings for Summer 2008.

The courses will once again be one week in length, and will take place in a Monday-through-Friday time frame.(read the full story)


The Institute anticipates that three courses will be offered next summer, tentatively scheduled for July 2008

Affiliation Agreement with Philadelphia University
The Institute for Biosecurity has entered into an affiliation agreement for course-sharing with Philadelphia University. The recently signed agreement means that students in either the Institute’s masters degree program in Biosecurity & Disaster Preparedness or in Philadelphia University’s MS degree in Disaster Medicine and Management (http://www.philau.edu/disastermed/) may complete coursework toward their degree at the other’s institution.
