Strategic and Project Planning

There are two levels of analysis and decisions in planning for the National Forest System. The first is the development of a strategic plan that provides direction for all resource management programs, practices, uses, and protection measures. Examples of strategic planning include national, regional, and forest assessments and plans. The second level of planning is project planning. It involves the analysis and implementation of specific management practices designed to achieve the goals and objectives of the strategic plans.
