Research Project: ALIEN CHROMOSOME ENGINEERING AND THE DEPLOYMENT OF A NOVEL SOURCE OF FUSARIUM HEAD BLIGHT RESISTANCE IN WHEAT Project Number: 0500-00053-002-66
Project Type: Grant

Start Date: Jun 21, 2007
End Date: Jun 20, 2009

Objective:
Develop wheat-Leymus compensating recombinant lines with small alien segments that still retain the FHB resistance gene for deployment and gene pyramiding for FHB disease control.

Approach:
Develop wheat-Leymus chromosome recombinant lines with FHB resistance. Determine the effect of T7AL.7Lr#1S FHB resistance on DON accumulation. Pre-breed novel T7AL.7Lr#1S FHB resistance into U.S. adapted wheat to verify resistance.
