Objective:
Develop hard red and hard white winter wheat cultivars adapted for Kansas with improved resistance to scab.

Approach:
Test existing local cultivars for resistance. Test advanced breeding lines for resistance. Test exotic germplasm lines for resistance. Test the Northern Uniform Winter Wheat Scab Nursery for resistance. Incorporate new sources of scab resistance into the Kansas wheat breeding program.
