Research Project: MANAGEMENT OF FUSARIUM HEAD BLIGHT WITH BIOLOGICAL CONTROL AGENTS Project Number: 0500-00053-002-39
Project Type: Grant

Start Date: Apr 28, 2005
End Date: Apr 27, 2009

Objective:
Evaluate the use of biocontrol agents (BCAs) to control Fusarium head blight to provide guidance on how to best use BCAs in a commerical wheat production system.

Approach:
Conduct a field-screening trial to evaluate the effectiveness of bacteria acting as biocontrol agents. Compare several strains of bacteria applied at vatrious stages of crop development to an untreated control and a fungicide control. Conduct greenhouse trials using pots involving foliar spray application of BCAs at flowering. Combine fungicide and BCAs to determine if the combination will have a better ability to control FHB.
