Objective:
Facilitate the development of cultivars with resistance initially equal to Ernie and later to the level of resistance of Sumai 3.

Approach:
Use a Kice cleaner to screen scabby kernels. Use already identified scab resistance QTL markers to identify wheat lines and plants in segregating populations to accelerate development of scab resistant wheat cultivars.
