Research Project: FUSARIUM HEAD BLIGHT UNIFORM FUNGICIDE TRIAL IN MARYLAND Project Number: 0500-00053-002-16

End Date: Apr 30, 2009

Objective:
Establish trials to investigate fungicide and biological treatments for Fusarium head blight management in Maryland as a component of a multi-state trials on the soft red winter wheat class.

Approach:
Follow the established protocol to include inoculation with the disease causal agent, mist irrigation to provide a disease-conducive environment, and twin-angled nozzles on a spray boom to improve application of control agents on wheat head. Assess efficacy to include reduction in disease incidence and severity, effect on yield, test weight, average kernel weight, and DON toxin contamination in grain.
