Payette National
Forest Recruiting for Seasonal Summer
Fire Positions
Are you looking for a summer challenge or perhaps
a new career? If so, the Payette National Forest, in
Southwest Idaho, is looking for quality candidates for
work as temporary seasonal wildland firefighters. Temporary
positions may work up to 1039 hours per year and may
lead to permanent job opportunities. Temporary job opportunities
for the summer 2008 include engine crews, helicopter
crews, hand crews, fire lookout, and dispatch.
Wildland firefighters typically work from May through
September. Firefighting is often arduous work with many
rewards, including the opportunity to travel throughout
the country. Base pay rates range from $11.31 (GS-03)
to $14.21 (GS-05) per hour. Overtime pay and hazard
pay would be additional to base pay, and varies depending
on the fire season.
Interested individuals may apply at any time after
December 17, 2007 at the Forest Service AVUE Digital
Services web site at: https://www.avuedigitalservices.com/usfs/applicant.html,
