Forest Road Conditions Report

Road Status Definitions:

  • OPEN - No restrictions, forest visitors can drive this road.
  • PARTIAL - Forest visitors can only drive part of the road because of snow, road damage, wildlife closures, etc.
  • CLOSED - Road closed because of forest closures, wildlife closure, road damage, gates or barriers. Forest visitors can not drive any part of the road.
  • SNOW - Road is snow covered but still open.
  • INACCESSIBLE - Road not reachable because of road damage or closures on roads leading to it.

NOTICE: Please check local weather forecasts before venturing into the forest. Weather conditions can change rapidly this time of year. Be prepared for snow at any time. Forest visitors should use caution. Call the ranger station for detailed information about Forest Roads.

When on single lane roads use extreme caution. Use turnouts and make sure you can stop in half your sight distance. High clearance vehicles are required on many roads.

2003 and 2006 Storm Related Road Closures: Windstorms and floods damaged many roads and trails. Forest visitors should use caution. Please report any damage to the nearest ranger station. Check the road conditions report below for current closures. Call the ranger station for detailed closure information.

Mountain Loop Road Reopened
After a four-year effort to repair more than $10 million in damaged roads and bridges, Mountain Loop Scenic Highway reopened October 26, 2007 to give outdoor enthusiasts access to many of their favorite trails and roads Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest.
