Welcome, Overview, and Charge to the Group
Richard H. Carmona, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.C.S., Surgeon General
Dr. Carmona welcomed the Committee, reviewed the purpose of the day’s meeting and offered his
appreciation to the Cessation Subcommittee for its hard work.
Before Committee introductions, Dr. Carmona recognized two new public members; Dr. Dorothy Hatsukami
from the University of Minnesota Medical School, and Dr. Yvette Lopez Warren, Executive Director of
the National Fatherhood Initiative.
