Enjoy Smoke-Free Turkey While You Go Cold Turkey: Smoke-Free Dining Guide Released

In recognition of Tobacco-Free Awareness Week, January 20–26, a newly released smoke-free dining guide helps smokers go "cold turkey" and offer nonsmokers a smoke free alternative to dining out. The guide features 100% smoke-free restaurants with (number of restaurants) listed.

"Many people only think about the effects of smoking on the individual smoking, but all people near a smoker are affected too," said (name of spokesperson).

Secondhand smoke, which comes from the burning of a cigarette and exhalation of a smoker, is classified as a Group A carcinogen that causes an estimated 3,400 lung cancer deaths and accounts for up to 69,600 heart disease deaths each year among nonsmokers in the United States.

"We want to encourage former smokers who kicked the habit in the New Year to keep on going," said (name of spokesperson). (Name of organization) staff and volunteers provide smoking-cessation and smoking-prevention activities for people of all ages.
