The U.S. Commercial Service in Frankfurt, along with the U.S. Commercial Service's Showcase Global and Automotive Teams , are once again joining forces to provide a wide range of support services to all U.S. exhibitors.

Automechanika, held every two years in Frankfurt, is Europe’s premier trade fair for the automotive industry. The event alternates years with the International Automobile Show (IAA). Automechanika attracted 160,000 trade visitors from 145 countries in 2006. More than 81% of the trade visitors had the necessary decision-making competence for purchasing. American exhibitors consistently report that Automechanika leads to strong global sales, not only European opportunities. In 2006, more than 4,500 exhibitors from 72 countries, including over 180 from the United States, exhibited products and services on more than 300,000 m2 of exhibition area. The show included four major USA Pavilions, with U.S. exhibitors reporting a strong increase in international sales – especially to Eastern Europe and the Middle East.

Automechanika is increasingly becoming a platform for original equipment fitters in the automobile industry, distinguished by innovations and new functions, systems and new technologies. Automechanika’s international significance – almost 80% of exhibitors and 40% of visitors originate from other countries – provides interesting opportunities in this sector, too.
