AFS 236, 239-249: Twelve discs made by John A. Lomax of black
convicts at state farms in Little Rock and Gould, Arkansas. Recorded
in 1935-36.
AFS 829-877: Forty-nine discs made by John A. Lomax in the
summer of 1936 in the South. Includes some Arkansas material.
AFS 999-1000: Two discs made in the Library of Congress by
Alan Lomax in June 1937. Singer is Charles J. Finger of Fayetteville,
Arkansas.
AFS 2666-2675, 3803: Eleven discs made in Cumins State Farm,
Gould, Arkansas. Recorded by John A. and Ruby T. Lomax between April
and June 1939.
AFS 4422: One 12-inch disc of lady from Arkansas singing "Mishie-mishie," recorded
by John A. Lomax in the Library of Congress in 1941.
AFS 5282-5293, 5304-5326, 5338-5419: One hundred and eight
12-inch discs recorded mostly in Fayetteville and Farmington, Arkansas,
by Vance Randolph, in 1941-42.
AFS 8352: One 12-inch disc of "Jolly Old Crow" and "Brien
O'Lin" sung by Frank Rastell (Frankie Mars). Recorded by Mrs.
Mabel Rastell of Chester, Arkansas. Recording accessioned in 1948.
AFS 10,075-10,080: Six reels of 10-inch double-track tapes
of songs (some accompanied), fiddle tunes, and conversations from Arkansas.
Recorded February-July 1950 by Merlin Mitchell of the University of
Arkansas in Fayetteville.

songs (some accompanied), fiddle tunes, and conversations from Arkansas.

tunes performed by the "Ozark Mountaineers," consisting of
Harold D. and Almus D. Sisson of Mountain View, Arkansas. Recorded "about
1930" (sic) in Portland, Oregon.
AFS 13,125-13,146: Twenty-two 10-inch reels (twenty-one double-track,
one single-track tape) of songs (some accompanied), fiddle tunes, and
conversations from Arkansas. Recorded in 1960-64 by Mary C. Parler
and others from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
AFS 14,057: One 12-inch disc of "I Couldn't Hear Nobody
Pray," black spiritual from Wilson, Arkansas. Source unknown;
tape accessioned June 1969.

from Fayetteville, Rogers, and Conway, Arkansas. Recorded by Charles
(Sandy) Paton, Lee B. Haggerty, and others for Folk-Legacy Records,
in 1962.
AFS 14,253: One 10-inch single-track tape of songs from Arkansas
and Missouri. Recorded by Mary C. Parler and others from the University
of Arkansas in Fayetteville, and accessioned September 1970.
AFS 14,302, 14,427: Two 10-inch double-track tapes of songs,
mostly from Arkansas, recorded by Max Hunter in 1957-58, including
Mr. Hunter's comments and reflections on his collecting experiences.
AFS 14,601: One 10-inch double-track tape of songs mostly from
Arkansas (some with piano accompaniment). Recorded in 1958-59 by Mary
C. Parler and others from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
AFS 14,626-14,628: Three 10-inch reels double-track tape of
songs from Arkansas and Missouri. Recorded mostly in 1958 by Max Hunter.
AFS 14,766: One 7-inch double-track tape of disc recording
of five songs sung unaccompanied by Doney Hammontree of Farmington,
Arkansas. Recorded in concert July 1949.
AFS 15,600: One 5-inch single-track tape of "Come All
You Missouri Gals" and "Coming to Arkansas," sung by
Albert F. Sisson of Avondale, Maryland. Recorded in April of 1973 by
Mr. Sisson, formerly of Mountain View, Arkansas.
AFS 16,984-16,994: Eleven 10-inch double-track tapes of fiddle
tunes from Arkansas, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska,
Oklahoma, and West Virginia. Includes twenty-two fiddle tunes played
by T. C. Fuller of Mena, Arkansas. Recorded in 1973 by Chris Delaney.
