ADEQ...  We Protect and Enhance Arkansas' Environment

The Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality is an agency of the state of Arkansas.  We are headquartered in North Little Rock and have offices and area inspectors throughout the state.

We strive to protect Arkansas' priceless natural resources - its air, water and land - from the threat of pollution.  We accomplish this in a variety of ways:

Tree Our regulatory programs set and enforce safe environmental limits for industries that affect air, water, solid waste, hazardous waste, regulated storage tanks and mining.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Proactive programs encourage Arkansans to be good environmental neighbors. We help communities and businesses develop recycling programs, we help small businesses and communities with environmental compliance and pollution prevention, and much more.
Workshop Educational activities promote environmental citizenship for all ages. We train and license environmental professionals, involve students in environmental projects, conduct workshops for educators and businesses, and help citizens understand environmental issues in their community.
ADEQ Strategic Plan Logo We’re committed to effective Environmental Management - using our resources to best protect and enhance Arkansas’ environment:
  • ADEQ's 2007 Report is a snapshot of the environment and the Department's activities and accomplishments.

  • ADEQ's 10-year Strategic plan outlines our objectives and strategies for improving the environment.

Our website contains information designed to help individuals, companies, organizations, and governmental entities comply with environmental laws and regulations. The site also contains information about the quality of the natural environment. As such, it serves as an informational resource for elected officials, agency staff, and the public.
