In Utah, BLM administers over 100 communication sites with approximately 160 lease holders on public land. The uses range from television and radio stations to wireless internet providers. Most of the uses administered in Utah occur at communication sites on mountaintops or other higher elevations. Many of these communication sites have one or more facilities (buildings) owned by private or governmental entities, and often contain a variety of communication uses within each facility. Activities at communication sites are controlled locally by BLM's Land Use Plans and by Communication Site Management Plans.
