Branch Chief: Zack Bowen
FORT scientists in the Ecosystem Dynamics Branch investigate a diversity of natural resource problems at the landscape and systems levels related to wildfire, riparian ecology, reference ecosystems, herbivore-ecosystem interactions, and integrated assessments of the urban-wildland interface.
FORT ecologist Sarah Spaulding, who works on a USGS-EPA partnership, has organized a series of talks sponsored by the University of Colorado's Institute of Arctic and Alpine Research (INSTAAR), on the Boulder campus. INSTAAR supports excellence in research, education, and outreach related to Earth system science and global changes in high-latitude, high-elevation environments. The fall series talks are held at noon on most Mondays and feature guest speakers from the USGS, National Park Service, National Snow and Ice Data Center, Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences, and Geological Survey of Norway.
