Welcome to
the Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA) 1998 news and
information archives. The FHWA is responsible for
administering the federal highway aid program to
individual states, and working to help plan, develop and
coordinate construction of federally funded highway
projects. The FHWA also regulates and enforces federal
requirements for the safety of trucks & buses. It
also governs the safety of hazardous cargoes as they move
over the nation's highways.
